This five day Day-Camp is designed for children of ages 5-7 (born between 2010-2012), from beginners to advanced learners of German, who want to improve their German language skills in a relaxed and playful environment together with their contemporaries.
Each day is based on a particular topic: animals, water, airplanes, etc. After an introduction to the topic, we will start exploring and experiencing the theme as well as the German language out of the classroom. Depending on the weather, we will take longer or shorter trips around the immediate area. The daily topics, experienced through playing language games, learning simple children rhymes, language tasks and extended individual conversation, promote the learning of the German language in a non-school setting.
The small group size (6-participant maximum) allows the teachers to work intensively with each child during the course of the day. Constant conversation enables the children to pick up new words, sentence structures and idioms, guaranteeing the individual promotion of each child.
There are two to three special language sessions integrated into every camp day in order for each participant’s individual language level to be nurtured. These language sessions serve the purpose of alerting the children to frequent mistakes and of deepening the knowledge of the German language using appropriate games and exercises.
All travel expenses during the camp day (9.00-15.30/17.00), entrance fees, course material as well as snacks (fruit, snacks and beverages) are included in the course fees. Lunch must be brought by the participants. We ask the parents to send an old sweater (long-sleeved) or an old shirt with their children on the first day. Depending on the weather, we will be painting, doing handicrafts, etc.
The camp can either be booked from 9.00-15.30 (short day version) or from 9.00-17.00 (long day). The short day contains two 30-minute language sessions, whereas the long day contains three.
Since our daily program is dependent on the weather, we ask you to understand that we cannot offer a detailed daily schedule for the camp. In case of good weather, we anticipate taking time intensive excursions (zoo visit, boat trip, hiking the Uetliberg). However, if it were to rain, we would be limited to reasonable outdoor activities and would spend the day doing crafts, cooking, etc., in the facilities of Zeltweg. This flexibility allows us to adjust the program to each group’s needs.
Insurance is the responsibility of the participants.
